What Is an Acrylic Display Case?

100 pieces per design, 3–5 days for a paid sample, 15–20 days for production, and 3–12 mm panel bands define the starting specification for an acrylic display case manufacturer. Sample fees are paid separately and never credited. Critical tolerances follow the approved drawing, material, feature, and process. Buyers comparing card-case formats can use the trading card display case guide before issuing the drawing brief.

Lid Types & Case Construction

Acrylic display cases — including acrylic boxes with lids for collectibles and retail — use four lid mechanisms: magnetic, sliding, hinged, and lift-off. The lid and closure decision guide maps lift-off, telescoping, hinged, and magnetic closure choices to the drawing and sample inputs a buyer needs to approve. Case quality depends on joint style (90° standard or 45° mitered seamless) and edge profile (square or rounded). All cases are cloth-polished and diamond-polished as standard.

Where the line falls: if the object stays put under a cover, door, or lock, it is a display case and this page is the right one. If staff or shoppers reach into it all day — an open counter unit, a tiered box, a compartmented sample kit — that is a display box, and our acrylic display boxes page carries those formats. Lidded storage builds sized to one object sit on the boxes side too; the acrylic box-with-lid buying guide compares the access and closure inputs.

Lid Mechanisms

liftmagnets

Magnetic Lid

Embedded magnets create a clean, seamless closure with no visible hardware. Lift to open, set to close.

Best for: collectibles, jewelry, TCG booster cases, retail countertop

slidegroove

Sliding Lid

Lid slides along a precision-grooved track for easy access. Keeps the case dust-tight when closed.

Best for: trading cards, memorabilia, stackable storage

hingeopen

Hinged Lid

Piano or integrated hinge keeps the lid attached. Opens fully for loading and unloading.

Best for: large cases, food-safe displays, retail cabinets

overlaplift offbaselid

Lift-Off Lid (Shoebox-Style)

Lid tray fits over the base and lifts straight off. Simple, cost-effective, and shipping-friendly.

Best for: shoe displays, gift packaging, high-volume bulk orders

Joint Styles

90°visible seamPanel APanel B

90° Standard Joints

Panels bonded edge-to-face. Functional, cost-effective, and durable. Visible glue line at each corner. The standard choice for commercial and retail applications where presentation quality is good — but not showroom-critical.

45°bonding surface(seamless after bonding)Panel APanel B

45° Mitered Seamless Joints

Each panel cut at a precise 45-degree angle and bonded to form a seamless, invisible corner. No joint line visible from any angle. The premium standard for jewelry, collectibles, and museum-quality display cases.

Edge Profiles

sharp 90°

Square Edge

Sharp 90° corner. Clean, geometric profile — the standard for commercial and high-volume cases.

Best for: commercial, retail, high-volume

radius

Rounded Edge (Radius)

Corner replaced with a smooth radius curve. Safer, softer feel — preferred for premium and child-safe products.

Best for: jewelry, children's products, premium feel

Every case we produce is cloth-polished and diamond-polished as standard — delivering crystal-clear, optically transparent surfaces. No extra charge, no exceptions. For irregularly shaped cases where cloth polishing can't reach, we supplement with flame polishing for full-surface clarity.

Stackable Design

interlockingridge + groove123

Many display cases — especially trading card cases and shoe boxes — need to stack securely without sliding or toppling. We engineer an interlocking ridge-and-groove system into the top and bottom surfaces: the ridge on the base of one case clicks into the groove on the case below.

Stackable up to 8 units high. The interlock is built into the mold — no extra hardware, no adhesive. Cases stack flush, stay aligned, and can be separated instantly.

Popular with: sneaker resellers, TCG distributors, retail shelf merchandising

Why Acrylic for Display Cases?

Acrylic (PMMA) is a practical display-case material because it combines glass-like clarity with lower weight and better shatter resistance. Unlike glass, acrylic can be laser-cut and CNC-machined into custom dimensions with precision-polished edges. For light-sensitive contents, we can specify a UV-filtering grade and provide its performance datasheet with the quote.

Cast vs Extruded Acrylic — Which One for Your Display Case?

Cast acrylic and extruded acrylic are both PMMA, but they're manufactured differently and that difference matters for display cases. Cast acrylic is poured into a mold and cured slowly — the result is a sheet with superior optical clarity, better chemical resistance, and edges that diamond-polish to a glass-like finish. Extruded acrylic is pushed through a die at high temperature — faster, lower in cost, and more uniform in thickness, but the edges don't polish as cleanly and the sheet is more prone to crazing under stress.

For display cases, the choice comes down to what the case needs to do:

Cast AcrylicExtruded Acrylic
Edge polish qualityDiamond-polishes to optical clarity — the premium standard for displayPolishes acceptably but never reaches the same glass-like clarity
Thickness tolerance±10–15% (wider tolerance — inherent to casting process)±5% (tighter — inherent to extrusion process)
UV-filtering optionAvailable as UV-stabilized cast grade (90–98% UV block)UV-stabilized extruded exists but is less commonly sourced for display
Chemical / stress resistanceHigher resistance to solvents and crazing under bonding stressMore prone to stress crazing at bonded joints under load
Cost per sheetHigher — slower manufacturing processLower — faster production, more uniform output
Best for display casesCollectible cases, jewelry vitrines, and museum installs; use the museum display standards checklist to define the exhibit-specific evidenceHigh-volume retail POP cases, protective covers, applications where edge polish is less critical

Wetop defaults to cast acrylic for display cases unless you specifically request extruded for cost reasons. We'll flag the trade-off in your quote so you can decide with full information.

What Affects Display Case Pricing?

Acrylic display case pricing depends on six factors: dimensions, thickness, quantity, lid mechanism, joint style, and finishing. We don't publish fixed prices because every case is custom — but here's what drives the cost so you can plan your budget.

Case Dimensions & Thickness

Larger cases and thicker acrylic use more material. A 3mm countertop card case costs significantly less than a 10mm helmet enclosure.

Order Quantity

Unit cost drops sharply as quantity increases. 500 cases cost less per piece than 100.

Lid Mechanism

A simple lift-off lid is the most affordable. Magnetic closures, sliding tracks, and hinged mechanisms add cost based on hardware and precision.

Joint Style

90° standard joints are cost-effective. 45° mitered seamless joints cost more due to precision cutting and bonding — but deliver a premium, invisible-corner finish.

Material & UV Protection

Clear acrylic is standard pricing. UV-filtering grades add to material cost according to their tested performance. Colored, frosted, and mirrored acrylic also cost more.

Finishing & Branding

UV printing, laser engraving, and custom foil stamping add to per-unit cost. Cloth + diamond polishing is included as standard.

Indicative Pricing Ranges (FOB Shenzhen)

Every case is custom, so these are approximate ranges to help you budget — not fixed prices. Your quote will reflect your exact specs.

ScenarioApprox. SizeKey SpecsQtyIndicative FOB Range

UV-filtering collectible case300 × 200 × 250mm5mm UV-filtering, 45° mitered, magnetic lid200 pcsfrom $15–30 / unit
Shoe / sneaker display case350 × 270 × 220mm5mm clear, drop-front magnetic200 pcsfrom $12–22 / unit
Large floor-standing case600 × 400 × 1000mm8mm clear, lockable, 45° mitered100 pcsfrom $60–120 / unit
Museum vitrine1000 × 1000 × 800mm10mm clear, LED base, lockable100 pcsfrom $150–350 / unit

Prices are approximate FOB Shenzhen and vary with exact dimensions, thickness, lid mechanism, joint style, finishing, and order quantity. UV-filtering acrylic adds approximately 15–25% to material cost. 45° mitered joints add approximately 20–30% over 90° standard joints. Request a quote for your exact specs.

Most custom acrylic display cases fall within a predictable range once you lock in these six variables. Send us your specs and we'll give you an exact number — no ballpark, no surprises.

Why Businesses Choose Wetop for Display Cases

Businesses choose Wetop for display case manufacturing because of 45° mitered joint precision, optional UV-filtering acrylic, and sample-to-production consistency — backed by ISO 9001 certification and acrylic manufacturing experience since 2008.

Wetop Acrylic factory — display case production

Precision That Shows

Every case is cloth-polished and diamond-polished as standard — a two-step process that eliminates micro-scratches invisible to the eye but visible under retail lighting. Combined with 45° mitered joints and optional UV-filtering acrylic, the result: cases with glass-like clarity at a fraction of the weight.

Every Lid, Every Joint, Under One Roof

Magnetic, sliding, hinged, removable — any lid mechanism, any joint style, any finishing combination. We operate 8 laser cutters, 4 CNC machines, and a dedicated diamond polishing line. Nothing leaves the building until it's done.

From Prototype to Production in Days

Paid samples ship in 3–5 days. Bulk production runs 15–20 days. Our 5,000 m² Shenzhen facility scales from 100-unit first runs to 50,000-unit rollouts — same factory, same quality standards, same team.

We tested four factories in China for our trading card display cases. Wetop's sample was the only one with truly seamless mitered joints and consistent UV protection across the batch. Three reorders later, we haven't looked elsewhere.

Why Buyers Go Direct to an Acrylic Display Case Manufacturer

Wetop Acrylic is a custom acrylic display case manufacturer in Shenzhen, China — founded in 2008, ISO 9001 certified, and cutting, bonding, polishing, printing, and assembling every case inside one 5,000 m² facility. Production MOQ is 100 pieces per design, paid samples ship in 3–5 days, and bulk production runs 15–20 days.

Custom Display Cases — Any Size

Before You Release a PO

Payment is 30% deposit before production and 70% balance before shipment — by T/T, PayPal, or Western Union — not full prepayment. Quotes are FOB Shenzhen by default; ask for CIF or DDP and we price ocean or air freight and import duties into one delivered number, so brokerage and clearance don't surface after the goods land. Design drawings are included: our engineering team produces a production drawing for your approval before anything is built, and every case is checked 100% against the sample you signed off on.

What Display Case Buyers Say

Cross-border sourcing is normally where our projects go sideways. This one didn't — and we've reordered without renegotiating the spec every time.

— Purchasing Lead, Collectibles Retailer, United States

We sent inner dimensions by product type and asked for clearance on top; the drawing came back accounting for both. The 8mm sample also closed harder and polished cleaner than our current factory's.

— Collector Case Reseller, Netherlands

We ordered a single trial case to check the fit before committing to the other sizes. That one sample settled the whole spec.

— Retail Buyer, Home & Display, Spain

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of acrylic display cases does Wetop manufacture?

7 common application families cover trading cards, collectibles, sports memorabilia, jewelry, cosmetics, shoes, and custom display work. Every case is built to the approved dimensions with a magnetic, sliding, hinged, or removable lid; 90° or 45° mitered joints; and the selected finish from 100 pieces per design. Regulated-retail buyers should also use the dispensary display compliance guide to define state-specific access and fixture questions with their regulator.

Do your acrylic cases block UV light?

1 selected material grade controls the UV-filtering claim for a display case. The protection level depends on its datasheet and the display conditions, so we quote the exact grade and provide its documentation instead of promising one percentage for every material. Buyers writing an institutional brief can compare the full museum display application first.

What is the difference between 90° and 45° mitered joints?

90° joints bond panels edge-to-face and retain a visible seam; 45° mitered joints cut the meeting edges before bonding for a cleaner corner. The mitered route adds machining and bonding work, so the quote separates it from a standard 90° construction.

What is the minimum order for custom acrylic display cases?

100 pieces per design is the standard production MOQ for custom acrylic display cases. A paid sample is available before production so you can approve the fit, opening method, finish, and packaging. The same factory team and inspection standards apply from the first production run through larger rollouts.

How long does it take to produce custom acrylic display cases?

3–5 days is the standard paid-sample build, followed by 15–20 days of production after approval. Cases with specified material grades, custom hardware, or complex lid mechanisms are scheduled against the final drawing. We ship FOB Shenzhen, with CIF and DDP available.

How much do custom acrylic display cases cost?

6 factors set the price: case dimensions, acrylic thickness, quantity, lid mechanism, joint style, and finishing. A 150×100×100 mm case in 3 mm clear acrylic with a magnetic lid at 500 pieces currently starts at $6 per unit FOB Shenzhen; final price follows the approved specification. See the quality-control process.

How do I know bulk production will match my approved sample?

100% inspection checks the production run against the approved sample, drawing, material specification, print settings, and edge profile before shipping. Wetop retains the released production files and QC records for repeat control; any remedy follows the confirmed inspection result and order terms. See the quality-control process.

What's included in my air freight quote, and why can it cost so much?

3–5 days is a common express transit reference, but the carrier quote follows chargeable weight, carton size, destination, and service. For larger orders, ask for air, sea, and split-shipment options on the same carton data so procurement can compare speed and landed cost.

Are you a display case factory or a trading company?

5,000 m² of ISO 9001-certified production space in Shenzhen supports Wetop's laser cutting, CNC machining, mitering, diamond polishing, printing, assembly, and 100% final inspection. The company has manufactured acrylic products since 2008 with 65+ staff. See the quality-control process.

Can you manufacture display cases to custom sizes?

1 approved drawing controls each custom size. Start from a CAD file, measured object, existing case, or photo with dimensions; identify the object's footprint, height, access direction, and required clearance. A paid sample normally takes 3–5 days so you can confirm fit before the 100-piece production run.

What is the landed cost to import display cases from China?

3 cost groups make landed cost: product and packing, international freight, and destination duty or clearance. We quote FOB Shenzhen by default and can also quote CIF or DDP against the same specification. Payment is 30% deposit before production and 70% balance before shipment.

Have a Display Case Design? Let's Quote It.

Send us your design, sketch, or reference photo — with dimensions, quantity, and lid preference. We respond within 24 hours with a detailed quote covering material options, joint style, finishing choices, and timeline. No commitment required. Sample before you commit to production.
