Custom wall mounted acrylic display cases for B2B retail merchandising, museum exhibits, and brand-experience walls with French cleat mount

Wall Mounted Acrylic Display Cases

Built for the wall, not adapted to it. Six mount systems, every wall type, fits the contents you actually display.

A wall mounted acrylic display case is a clear or tinted enclosure that hangs flush to the wall to showcase B2B retail merchandise, museum artifacts, brand-experience displays, or corporate trophy programs while protecting them from dust, UV light, and handling. Wetop Acrylic manufactures custom acrylic wall display cases — also called plexiglass or perspex wall cases — sized to your contents and built around the wall mount system that fits your install: French cleat, Z-clip, standoff bolt, through-bolt, concealed pin, or fully floating. Lockable doors, UV-filtering acrylic, integrated LED lighting, and matched mounting hardware ship with every case. For sports memorabilia (jersey, helmet, ball, signed-card), see our dedicated sports cases page. For fabric-backed personal keepsake framing, see acrylic shadow boxes. MOQ 50 pieces.

Pick the Right Wall Mount System

An acrylic display case wall mount only works if it matches the wall type, the case weight, and how visible you want the hardware to be. We build to six standard mount systems — French cleat, Z-clip, standoff bolt, through-bolt, concealed pin, and floating bracket — and ship the matching anchors for drywall, brick, concrete, or metal stud walls with every case.

Load values shown are reference figures only. Actual capacity for your install depends on the specific case dimensions, acrylic thickness, mount hardware spec, and the wall material at your site. We confirm the bracket and fastener spec for your project at sample stage based on case size, contents weight, and wall type.

How Three Common Wall Mounts Work — Cross-Section

The three most common acrylic wall mounted display case systems — French cleat, standoff bolt, and Z-clip — each engage the wall and the case differently. The cross-sections below show what is happening behind the case at the millimeter level: the cleat angle, the standoff barrel, and the Z-clip shoulder. Knowing how the case sits on the wall is the difference between a flush install and a wobbly one.

Cross-section of a French cleat wall mount on an acrylic display case backboard. Side-view cross-section showing a wall-side 45 degree rail screwed into the wall, a matching case-side rail bonded to the acrylic backboard, and the case dropping down onto the wall rail so the hardware is hidden behind the display case. French cleat — two 45 degree rails, hidden behind the case The case rail drops over the wall rail; gravity holds the case in level engagement. WALL / STUD wall-side 45 degree rail case-side rail bonded to backboard 8 mm acrylic backboard drops onto rail 35 mm rail engagement Typical use: hidden hardware for retail and museum wall cases. Rating confirmed against wall type and case load.
French cleat is the most-installed wall mount on our cases. Once the wall rail is leveled, the case drops into place and is held by gravity — no fasteners visible from the front.
Cross-section of a standoff bolt wall mount on an acrylic display case backboard. Side-view cross-section showing a threaded wall anchor, long stainless standoff barrel on the wall side of the acrylic backboard, a short visible front cap on the acrylic face, and an 18 mm wall-to-backboard offset. Standoff bolt — visible barrel, controlled wall offset The long barrel sits behind the acrylic; the short cap tightens from the visible front face. WALL threaded wall anchor wall-side standoff barrel backboard hole short visible front cap 18 mm wall-to-backboard offset acrylic case body Four standoffs per case standard. Reference load: 35 lb per bolt before project-specific confirmation.
Standoff bolts hold the case off the wall with the long chrome barrel on the wall side of the acrylic backboard and the short cap visible on the front face — a modern look where the hardware is intentionally seen.
Cross-section of a Z-clip wall mount on an acrylic display case backboard. Side-view cross-section showing two slim interlocking Z-clip rails. The wall rail screws to the wall, the case rail bonds to the acrylic backboard, and the hooked shoulders engage with a smaller wall offset than a French cleat. Z-clip — slim hooked rails with a close wall reveal The same lift-on principle as a cleat, with a lower profile and smaller engagement depth. WALL wall-side Z-rail case-side Z-rail hooks down acrylic backboard 12 mm engagement acrylic case body Used when hidden hardware is required but the case needs to sit closer to the wall than a full cleat.
Z-clips are the slim cousin of the French cleat — same hooked-rail principle, smaller wall offset. Used when the case needs to sit close to the wall while still hiding all hardware.

Match the Mount to Your Wall and Weight

Picking the wall mount system before picking the case shape saves a re-engineering cycle. The table below shows which system fits which wall type, what load each carries, and how visible the hardware is. Tell us your wall type and the heaviest item that goes inside, and we recommend the mount on the spot.

Mount system Drywall Brick / concrete Metal stud Max load Hardware visible? Install difficulty

Configure the Case to Match the Contents

Every wall mount acrylic display case is built around four configuration axes: case shape, depth, backboard finish, lighting, and security. The options below are the standard menu — anything outside this list is a sample-and-quote conversation, not a no.

Case shape

  • 5-sided cover with backboard — most common; cover bonds to a flat acrylic backboard that mounts to the wall.
  • Full enclosure (6-sided) — for items needing dust-tight protection; hinged front access door.
  • Deep shadow box — backboard recessed into a deep frame; objects sit on internal pegs or shelves.
  • Slim flat-front — 50 mm depth or less; designed for posters, photographs, certificates, flat retail merchandise.

Depth

  • 50 mm slim — flat retail merchandise, certificates, framed posters, document display.
  • 75 mm — standard small-item retail and gallery displays.
  • 100 mm — multi-bay trophy walls, group object displays.
  • 150 mm — sculptures, deep retail SKUs, three-dimensional museum artifacts.
  • 200 mm deep — three-dimensional artifacts, large statues, layered shadow-box compositions.

Backboard finish

  • Clear acrylic — see-through; useful when wall color is part of the design.
  • Black or white opaque acrylic — high-contrast backdrop for awards and small items.
  • MDF (custom paint) — solid backing for heavy mounting, painted any RAL color.
  • Fabric-wrapped panel — felt, velvet, linen, suede; museum and luxury retail standard.

Lighting

  • LED top-edge — wash light, ideal for tall objects.
  • LED side-edge strip — even illumination for jewelry and small-item walls.
  • None — relies on ambient and gallery lighting.

Security

  • Lockable cam-lock door — keyed alike across an order; default for retail.
  • Tamper-evident seal — low-cost adhesive seal on lift-off lids.
  • Hidden magnetic catch — invisible release; opened with a magnetic key.

Acrylic material

  • Standard clear (3 mm, 5 mm, 8 mm) — 92% light transmission, full visibility.
  • UV-filtering acrylic — blocks 92%+ UV; standard for museum, gallery, and high-value retail installs where contents must not fade.
  • Tinted (smoke, bronze, blue) — privacy or branding.
  • Anti-reflective — for installs under directional lighting.

What Affects Wall Mounted Case Pricing

Wall-mount case pricing is driven by five variables: acrylic thickness, UV-filtering vs standard clear, the mount system (through-bolt and floating cost more than French cleat), lockable vs non-locking, and order quantity. A slim 50 mm flat-front retail case with French cleat and clear acrylic costs significantly less than a deep 200 mm museum case with UV-filtering acrylic, fabric-wrapped backboard, LED top-edge, and lockable hinge.

Mount system

French cleat and Z-clip are the most cost-effective. Through-bolt and floating bracket cost more for fabrication and the precision install hardware.

Acrylic and UV protection

UV-filtering acrylic adds 15-25% over standard clear. Thicker stock (8 mm vs 3 mm) raises material cost — required above 24 inch panel spans.

Backboard and lighting

Fabric-wrapped and MDF backboards add labor. LED top- or side-edge integration adds an electrical sub-assembly + driver + wiring access.

Lock and security

Cam-lock with keyed-alike sets adds parts cost. Tamper-evident seals are the cheapest security option. Hidden magnetic catches are mid-tier.

Order quantity

Per-unit cost drops sharply above 200 pieces. Most wall-mount buyers order 100-1,000 units per run for a retail or museum rollout.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are your wall mounted acrylic display cases mounted?

We offer six standard wall-mount systems: French cleat, Z-clip, standoff bolt, through-bolt, concealed pin, and floating (hidden bracket). The right system depends on case weight, wall type, and whether the hardware should be visible. French cleats and Z-clips are the most common — they hide all hardware behind the case, level the case automatically, and let the case lift off cleanly for cleaning or content swaps. Every wall-mount case ships with the matching mounting hardware and an installation diagram.

Will the case work on drywall without studs?

Yes, with the right anchors. Cases up to about 12 lbs (5.5 kg) mount safely into standard 1/2 inch drywall using toggle bolts or self-drilling drywall anchors — we ship these in the kit when buyers tell us the wall type. For cases above 12 lbs, we recommend hitting a stud or using a French cleat that spans two studs. For brick, concrete, or metal stud walls we ship masonry sleeve anchors or self-drilling metal anchors instead. Tell us your wall type during quoting and the right hardware ships with the case.

What is the maximum weight your wall mount supports?

Reference values only — actual capacity depends on case size, acrylic thickness, mount hardware spec, and the wall material at your install site. As a starting point: French cleat and Z-clip systems engineered for ~60 lbs (27 kg) per case into a single stud, or ~120 lbs (54 kg) when the cleat spans two studs. Standoff bolts engineered around ~35 lbs (16 kg) per bolt with four bolts per case. For heavier loads — large multi-bay corporate trophy walls, deep brand-experience cases, or museum cases above 100 lbs total weight — we engineer reinforced backboards and through-bolt mounting. Send us the case dimensions, contents weight, and the wall type (drywall / brick / concrete / metal stud) and we confirm the bracket and fastener spec at sample stage.

Do you provide installation hardware with the case?

Yes. Every wall-mounted acrylic display case ships with the matching mounting hardware — French cleat or Z-clip rails, drywall anchors or masonry sleeves based on the wall type you specify, screws, washers, and a printed installation diagram. Standoff and through-bolt hardware is also included when those systems are selected. The only thing you supply is the drill and a level. If you need a wall template printed at scale, ask us during quoting and we include it.

Can the case be locked?

Yes. We offer three lock options on wall-mounted cases: a keyed cam-lock on the hinged front door (most common for retail and museum installs), a tamper-evident security seal on lift-off lids (low-cost option for corporate trophy walls and gallery installs), and a hidden magnetic catch with a release key (used when the lock should be invisible). Cam-locks are keyed alike across a single order by default, so one key opens every case in your installation — useful for retailers managing 50+ wall fixtures.

What is the deepest wall mounted display case you build?

Our standard wall-mount depth range is 50 mm (slim front-loading cases for posters, photos, and flat retail merchandise) up to 200 mm (deep cases for sculptures, three-dimensional retail SKUs, and museum artifacts). We have built one-off cases up to 300 mm deep with reinforced French cleat backboards, but anything above 200 mm starts to look more like a wall cabinet than a display case — at that point we usually recommend a floor-standing tower instead. Tell us the deepest item you need to display and we recommend a depth that flatters the piece without dominating the wall.

Do you build wall-mount cases for sports memorabilia (jerseys, helmets, balls)?

Yes — but sports memorabilia is its own product page with sport-specific sizing tables, COA-display options, and authentication-house workflows. See sports memorabilia display cases. This page focuses on B2B retail merchandising, museum, brand-experience, and corporate trophy wall installs. If you need a fabric-backed personal keepsake frame instead — wedding, retirement, military service, family memorial — see acrylic shadow boxes.
