Acrylic Tray Types at a Glance

Acrylic trays are not one product — they are four use-verticals built from the same material: serving trays, vanity trays, decorative (bottom-art) trays, and bar & hospitality trays. They differ mainly in size range, handle option, and bottom treatment — a serving tray runs large with metal handles and a printed or solid bottom, while a vanity tray runs small, handleless, and often mirrored or frosted. The reference below shows the typical setup for each; every tray is custom-built, so your dimensions, handles, and bottom finish are engineered to your spec at an MOQ of 100 pieces with a sample in 3–5 days.

Tray Program Pricing at 100 / 500 / 5,000 Pieces

Tray programs typically order at three volumes — a 100-piece first production run, a 500-piece rollout, and 5,000-piece program scale. These are typical FOB bands to budget against, not quotes; your exact number is quoted per spec within 24 hours.

Typical FOB Shenzhen bands — exact quote per spec, within 24 hours. Unit price falls with volume because setup (cutting programs, print setup, polishing changeover) spreads across more pieces; there are no separate tooling fees at any quantity. Metal handles, UV printing, mirrored or colored acrylic, and retail-ready packaging move the number within each band.

Why Acrylic for Trays?

Acrylic (PMMA) — often called lucite or plexiglass — is the most versatile material for custom trays. It offers glass-like clarity at half the weight, won't shatter when dropped, and can be laser-cut into any shape. Unlike wood or bamboo, acrylic can be made fully transparent to showcase bottom inserts, printed art, and branded designs underneath.

How Each Tray Material Fails

The four materials buyers compare for custom trays — acrylic, wood, glass, and coated plastic — each fail a different way in daily use. Wood absorbs liquid, stains, and warps once its seal wears through. Glass is heavy and shatters on a hard floor. Coated plastic looks fine until the coating chips, scratches, or peels at the edges. Cast acrylic is fully waterproof, roughly half the weight of glass, won't shatter when dropped, and takes a diamond-polished edge that stays optically clear — which is why it's the default for serving, vanity, and bottom-art trays.

Plexiglass vs Cast Acrylic for Serving Trays

Plexiglass and acrylic name the same material — polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). The real material choice for custom plexiglass serving trays is between cast PMMA and extruded PMMA, and the difference shows up in three places: how the tray reads after repeated commercial washing, whether it survives commercial dishwasher heat, and what food-contact documentation you can defend to a regulator or QA buyer. For the full cast-vs-extruded engineering breakdown across all acrylic products (not just trays), see our cast vs extruded acrylic guide.

Acrylic Trays for TCG Collectibles & DTC Retail

Two buyer segments have driven the fastest growth in our custom tray program in 2026: trading card collectors building display trays for Pokemon ETBs and graded card slabs, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) home-goods brands ordering custom lucite trays for retail merchandising and gifting. Both want the same thing the hospitality buyer wants — optical clarity, repeatable specs, and a sample they can hold before bulk — but the spec sheet looks different. Here's how we build for each.

What Affects Tray Pricing?

Acrylic tray pricing depends on six factors: size, quantity, material, handle style, bottom treatment, and printing or decoration. We don't publish fixed prices because every tray is custom — but here's what drives the cost so you can plan your budget.

Size & Thickness

Larger trays and thicker acrylic use more material. A 10"×7" vanity tray costs less than a 20"×14" serving tray of the same thickness.

Order Quantity

Unit cost drops significantly as quantity increases. 500 units costs less per piece than 100.

Material Type

Clear acrylic is standard pricing. Colored, frosted, and mirrored cost more.

Handle Style

No handles is the most economical. Cut-out handles add machining time. Metal handles add hardware and assembly cost.

Bottom Treatment

Solid bottoms are simplest. Insert slots (for swappable photos or artwork) require precision routing and add machining cost.

Printing & Decoration

Silk-screen printing is most economical for simple logos. UV printing supports complex full-color artwork. Laser etching and hot stamping add precision finishing cost.

Indicative Pricing Ranges (FOB Shenzhen)

Every tray is custom, so these are approximate ranges to help you budget — not fixed prices or quotes. Your final number reflects your exact specs.

UV full-color printing, hot stamping, mirrored/colored acrylic, and retail-ready packaging add cost. CIF and DDP shipping change your landed price. Request a quote for your exact specs.

Wholesale & Bulk Acrylic Trays

Buying acrylic trays wholesale from Wetop means ordering factory-direct from our Shenzhen plant — no distributor margin, no catalog constraint on size or finish. Bulk acrylic tray pricing runs on three mechanics: a 100-piece MOQ per design, per-design pooling for multi-tray programs, and carton-volume freight that rewards tighter packing. Unit price falls with volume because setup — cutting programs, print screens, polishing changeover — spreads across more trays, and there are no separate tooling fees at any quantity.

Businesses choose Wetop for tray manufacturing because of responsive communication, crystal-clear finishing quality, and low 100-piece minimums — backed by ISO 9001 certification and 18+ years of custom acrylic experience.

Wetop Acrylic factory — tray manufacturing

Custom-Built, Not Mass-Produced

No templates, no catalog limits. Send us a sketch, CAD file, or reference photo — our engineering team builds to your dimensions, shapes, handles, and branding. We operate 8 laser cutters, 4 CNC machines, and a dedicated diamond polishing line to handle any tray design.

Flawless Edges, Every Piece

Diamond-polished edges deliver optically clear finishes that make trays look like solid glass — without the weight or risk. Our polishing process eliminates micro-scratches invisible to the eye but visible under retail lighting. The result: trays that feel premium in hand and look premium on display.

From Prototype to Production in Days

Paid samples ship in 3–5 days. Bulk production runs 15–20 days. Our 5,000 m² Shenzhen facility scales from 100-unit first runs to 10,000-unit rollouts — same factory, same quality standards, same team.

We needed custom amenity trays for a hotel refit — clear acrylic, laser-etched logo, tight deadline. Samples came back in a few days, production well inside the window. Every tray matched the sample. We've reordered three times since.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of acrylic trays does Wetop manufacture?

We manufacture all types of acrylic trays including serving trays, vanity trays, and decorative trays. Shapes include rectangular, round, and custom. Handle options include metal handles, cut-out handles, or no handles. Every tray is custom-built to your specifications with a minimum order of 100 pieces.

Can you add custom artwork or photos to acrylic trays?

Yes. We offer two options: bottom insert trays with a slot that holds interchangeable printed artwork or photos, and printed-bottom trays where the design is permanently applied using UV printing or silk-screen printing. For simpler logos or patterns, laser etching and hot stamping are also available. For bottom-insert trays, we create a removable printed insert that slides into a slot — buyers can swap artwork seasonally or for different product lines. Send vector artwork (AI/EPS preferred) with exact insert dimensions and we'll confirm fit during sample stage.

What handle options are available for acrylic trays?

Three options: metal handles (stainless steel or brass, attached with hardware), cut-out handles (carved directly into the acrylic for a single-piece look), and handleless designs (clean edges, popular for vanity and decorative use). Handle style is fully customizable to match your product's purpose.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom acrylic trays — and can I start small?

Our production MOQ is 100 pieces per design. Buyers who want to validate a tray before that run start with a paid sample, then approve the exact size, handle, artwork, and finish for production. If your program includes several tray designs, each design normally needs 100 pieces; we can coordinate them in one production window and shipment to reduce handling and freight. Ask for 100 / 500 / 5,000-piece pricing tiers in your quote.

How long does it take to produce custom acrylic trays?

Sample production takes 3–5 days. Once you approve the sample, bulk production runs 15–20 days depending on complexity and quantity. We ship FOB Shenzhen, with CIF and DDP options available.

How much do custom acrylic trays cost?

Pricing depends on five factors: size, quantity, material type, handle style, and bottom treatment. A simple rectangular tray without handles costs less than a round tray with metal handles and UV-printed bottom art. Send us your specs — we respond within 24 hours with a detailed quote.

What's the fastest timeline for a tray with custom bottom artwork?

Fastest route: approve vector artwork, rush sample in 3 days, approve the sample, then 15-day bulk production = 18 days total for a market deadline. We compress timelines for time-sensitive launches. If you need something in 10 days, contact us immediately with artwork and we'll confirm feasibility. Expedited timelines sometimes incur a rush fee — we'll quote it upfront.

Will the sample tray be the exact size and thickness of the final production tray?

Yes — the sample is a production sample, not a mock-up. It's built to your final exterior dimensions, wall thickness, handle hardware, and bottom treatment on the same lines that will run your bulk order, so what you hold is what ships. Once you approve it, we retain it as the master sample and inspect every bulk piece against it — dimensions, insert depth, handle fit, and artwork are all locked at that gate, not re-decided during production.

How early should I order samples if I'm working toward a market or launch deadline?

Work backwards from your market date: 3–5 days for the sample, transit and your review time, then 15–20 days for bulk production plus freight — and we'll confirm a realistic sample cutoff date for your specific launch. Two things keep that schedule honest: sample only the SKUs that anchor the launch (quick price comparisons for the rest don't need physical samples), and send layered artwork with cut lines and the print or foil method marked per layer so nothing gets re-drawn at sample stage. Our tray branding methods guide covers how each method affects artwork prep.

What dimensions and artwork do you need before making a tray sample?

Three dimension calls and one artwork rule. Confirm the exterior footprint, the interior capacity (what actually sits in the tray), and — for insert trays — the insert size and thickness, since the slot is machined to it; also state whether your dimensions are internal or external. Artwork must be vector (AI or EPS) with fonts outlined, so logos scale cleanly to the etch or print file. Add quantity and destination and we can quote freight in the same pass. The bottom-insert spec guide shows how insert dimensions drive the slot design.

Can you quote freight included so I know my landed cost per tray?

Yes. FOB Shenzhen is our standard quote, and on request we quote CIF or DDP so freight — and for DDP, duties and delivery — roll into one per-tray figure. Freight per piece is driven by carton volume as much as weight: tray size, rim depth, quantity, and how the trays pack all move it. Tell us your target delivered budget and we'll quote scenarios by quantity and shipping method, so you're comparing landed costs, not just unit prices.

My trays are for an event with a fixed date — can you make it?

Send the date first, before anything else. We work backwards through sample, approval, production, and transit and tell you straight whether it clears — including where air freight or a split air/sea shipment buys the date back. If the math doesn't work, we say so and quote the fastest realistic alternative rather than promising a date we'd miss.

Can a thinner tray cut my freight and unit cost?

Often, yes — thinner acrylic uses less material and drops both unit weight and carton weight, which shows up directly in air-freight bills. The check is function: going from 5mm to 3mm adds flex, so it suits decorative and amenity trays but not daily service under loaded plates. We only recommend a thickness change when function and your deadline are both protected, and the sample confirms the real weight before you commit. Our serving tray spec guide covers the depth-thickness-weight math.

Can I order bottom-insert trays where the artwork is interchangeable?

Yes. The tray features a slot on the bottom that holds a printed insert card. You approve the tray frame once; then you can swap artwork seasonally, for different product lines, or for different markets — without reordering trays. Insert cards are reprinted and shipped separately. Most clients order 500 trays and 5 different insert designs rotated through the year. Inserts are cheaper per-unit because they skip the tooling step.

Can you laser-etch my logo directly onto the acrylic instead of printing?

Yes. Laser etching creates a permanent frosted marking on the acrylic surface — no ink, no fading. It works best for simple logos (1–2 colors) and works on clear, colored, and frosted acrylic. Etching costs more than UV printing because it requires per-unit laser time. For intricate multi-color logos, UV printing is more economical. We'll recommend the best method during quoting.

Do you make acrylic display trays for Pokemon ETBs and TCG cards?

Yes. We build custom acrylic display trays sized to Pokemon Elite Trainer Box (ETB) footprints, sealed booster boxes, and graded card slabs (PSA, BGS, CGC). Common specs: 3–5mm clear cast acrylic, cut-out finger slots, optional lids or stacking lips, and laser-etched brand or set logos. Tell us the card or box dimensions and the count per tray — we'll spec wall height, slot tolerance, and material gauge accordingly. MOQ 100 pieces per design.

Can you make custom lucite trays with handles for DTC retail brands?

Yes. We manufacture custom lucite trays — clear, frosted, or Pantone-matched — with brass, stainless steel, or cut-out handles for direct-to-consumer home-goods, beauty, and lifestyle brands. Add a printed bottom for monogram artwork, a removable insert slot for seasonal swaps, or an acrylic cover (lid) to convert the tray into a presentation gift box. MOQ 100 pieces. We ship FOB Shenzhen, CIF, or DDP to your warehouse or 3PL.

Can the same tray ship in two split batches — air-freight rush, sea-freight balance?

Yes. For new product launches we can split an approved production run: a 100–200-piece air-freight first shipment to hit your launch date, with the balance moving by sea 25–35 days later at a lower landed cost. We quote both legs together so you see total landed cost upfront. DDP is available for the US, EU, UK, and Australia.

Have a Tray Design? Let's Quote It.

Send us your design, sketch, or reference photo. We respond within 24 hours with a detailed quote — material options, handle choices, bottom treatment, and timeline included. No commitment required. Sample before you commit to production.
