A wall-mounted acrylic shelf is a clear or colored shelf panel fixed to a wall using visible brackets, L-supports, or clamp mounts. Wall-mounted acrylic shelves are the most common format for retail product displays, bathroom storage, and commercial signage. Wetop manufactures custom acrylic wall shelves in any size, thickness, and color with precision-drilled mounting holes.
Wall-mounted shelves are our highest-volume shelf product. A clear acrylic shelf on a retail wall disappears visually — the products appear to float, and the display doesn't compete with the merchandise. That's something wood, metal, or glass shelves can't do.
We cut acrylic wall shelves from cast PMMA sheet — whether you call it acrylic, plexiglass, or perspex, the material and process are identical. Each shelf is CNC-cut or laser-cut to exact dimensions, edges diamond-polished to optical clarity, and mounting holes precision-drilled to match your bracket hardware.
Three Mounting Methods
Bracket-Mounted
L-shaped metal brackets screwed into the wall. Simplest installation, easiest to reposition.
Clamp-Mounted
Shelf edge gripped by a wall-mounted clamp. No brackets underneath — cleaner, more minimal look.
Through-Bolt
Bolts through shelf into wall anchors with decorative caps. Most secure for heavy loads in 10mm+ acrylic.

Acrylic Floating Shelves
An acrylic floating shelf mounts to the wall with concealed hardware — no visible brackets, clamps, or supports. The shelf appears to hover against the wall. Wetop manufactures custom acrylic floating shelves with pre-routed mounting channels and stainless steel rod hardware included, in clear, frosted, or colored acrylic from 6mm to 12mm thickness.
Floating shelves are the cleanest-looking acrylic wall shelf option. No brackets, no visible hardware — just a clear panel extending from the wall. The visual effect is striking, especially with clear acrylic: products appear to float in mid-air.
The hidden mounting works through a concealed rod or channel system. We rout a slot along the back edge of the shelf — typically 12–15mm deep — that slides over stainless steel rods anchored into the wall. Once the shelf is in place, the rods are invisible.
Minimum 8mm thickness
Thinner acrylic lacks the structural depth for a secure mounting channel.
Stud mounting recommended
Drywall anchors alone limit load capacity to ~2kg per rod.

Floating shelves hold less weight than bracket-mounted shelves of the same size. For loads above 5kg per shelf, we recommend bracket-mounted or through-bolt mounting instead.

Slatwall & Gridwall Shelves
Flat acrylic shelf panels with a rear lip or hook that snaps into standard slatwall (slotted panels) or gridwall (wire mesh) systems. Used extensively in retail stores, pharmacies, and trade show booths. No tools, no drilling, no hardware — slide and snap.

Acrylic Shelf Thickness & Load Capacity
Acrylic shelf thickness determines load capacity, visual weight, and cost. A shelf that's too thin will sag under load; too thick and you're overpaying for material. The right thickness depends on shelf span (unsupported width), depth, and what you're putting on it.

Load values = maximum evenly distributed weight before visible deflection (>2mm sag). "—" = not recommended at this span. All values assume 200mm shelf depth. Add center bracket support to double effective capacity.
Thickness Recommendations by Use Case
5mm is a good starting point for most shelf applications. The right thickness depends on your span, load, and how you want the shelf to feel visually.
Covers most display shelf applications up to 300mm span. Cosmetics, small retail products, brochure holders. Clean look, lowest cost.
Step up when span exceeds 300mm or loads are moderate. Standard retail acrylic display shelf — slightly more rigid than 5mm.
For wider shelves (450mm+), heavier products, or when you want a more substantial visual weight. Hospitality, bathroom shelves.
Heavy-duty and long-span applications: electronics, boxed goods, permanent installations. Premium look, maximum rigidity.

When glass or wood makes sense: Tempered glass works for high-end residential built-ins where weight isn't a concern. Wood suits rustic-themed retail and residential bookshelves. For commercial display shelving — especially where products need visibility, shelves ship in quantity, or the environment involves moisture — acrylic is the practical choice.

What Affects Acrylic Shelf Pricing?
Custom acrylic shelf pricing depends on acrylic thickness, shelf size, material type, and order quantity. Diamond polishing and cloth polishing are included as standard on all shelves. Mounting hardware is included for wall-mounted and floating shelves. We don't publish fixed prices because every shelf is custom — here's what moves the number.
Acrylic Thickness
The biggest cost driver. A shelf in 10mm uses 2× the material of the same shelf in 5mm. For standard retail display shelves, 6mm is the best balance of cost and performance.
Shelf Size
Length × depth determines material usage. A 600×200mm shelf uses 3× the material of a 300×150mm shelf. Longer shelves also require thicker acrylic.
Edge Finishing
All shelves receive diamond polishing and cloth polishing as standard. Flame polishing is used on specific edges where the product structure requires it — this is determined by shape, not as a cost upgrade.
Order Quantity
Unit cost drops significantly as quantity increases. The biggest price break is between 50 and 200 pieces. Slatwall shelves in high volume (1,000+) are our most cost-effective shelf product.

How much weight can an acrylic shelf hold?
Load capacity depends on thickness, span (unsupported width), and mounting method. A 300mm-wide clear acrylic shelf in 8mm thickness holds up to 5kg evenly distributed. A 500mm-wide shelf at the same thickness holds about 3kg before visible deflection. For heavier loads, step up to 10mm or 12mm — a 300mm span in 12mm acrylic handles 10kg+. Wall-mounted shelves with bracket supports every 300mm can hold significantly more than floating shelves with hidden rod mounts. We verify load requirements for every custom order.
How are acrylic floating shelves mounted?
Acrylic floating shelves use hidden mounting systems — typically stainless steel rods or a concealed metal channel that slides into a routed slot along the back edge of the shelf. The hardware anchors into wall studs or masonry, and the shelf slides over it. From the front, no brackets or supports are visible — the shelf appears to float. We supply the shelf with pre-routed mounting slots and matching hardware. Installation requires a drill, level, and about 15 minutes per shelf.
Can acrylic shelves be used in bathrooms?
Yes. Acrylic is naturally water-resistant, non-porous, and won't rust, warp, or rot — unlike wood or metal shelves. It handles humidity and occasional splashing without any special coating. For bathroom use, we recommend clear or frosted acrylic with diamond-polished edges in 6mm or 8mm thickness. Frosted acrylic hides water spots better than clear. We can also add a slight lip along the front edge to prevent items from sliding off.
