Hinged-Lid Acrylic Gift Boxes
A hinged-lid acrylic gift box has a lid connected to the box body by a metal piano hinge or acrylic living hinge. The lid swings open to 90–110° and stays open for product display, then closes flush against the box body. Interior inserts — velvet, foam, or satin — cradle the product inside. The standard format for jewelry, cosmetics, and premium corporate gift packaging.
Hinged-lid boxes give the recipient a one-handed open — lift the lid, see the gift. No separate pieces to set down, no packaging to fumble with. The hinge keeps the lid attached, which matters when the box sits on a retail counter or trade show table where loose lids get lost.
Metal Piano Hinge (most popular) — A stainless steel or brass piano hinge runs the full length of the back edge. Smooth 110° opening arc. Recessed into a routed channel so the lid sits flush when closed. Rated for 10,000+ open-close cycles.
Acrylic Living Hinge — A thin, flexible strip of acrylic connects the lid to the body — no metal hardware visible. Limited to smaller boxes (under 15cm) where the hinge length is short enough to maintain flexibility. Opens to 90°.
Most hinged-lid gift boxes close with a clean flush front edge and the weight of the lid itself. For heavier lids, shipping security, or a more deliberate unboxing feel, we can add a hidden magnetic catch or ribbon tie — but many jewelry and cosmetics boxes do not need it.

Box Size
Larger boxes use more acrylic. An 8×8cm ring box costs significantly less than a 25×25cm multi-item gift set box. Size is the biggest cost driver after quantity.
Acrylic Thickness
A 5mm box uses nearly twice the material of a 3mm box the same size. For lightweight favor boxes, 3mm is sufficient. For large presentation boxes, 5mm is standard.
Lid Mechanism
Lift-off (simplest, fewest parts) costs the least. Hinged adds a piano hinge and routed channel. Sliding drawer adds a rail system and tighter tolerances. Hidden magnets or ribbon hardware add cost only when you specify them.
Interior Insert
Die-cut EVA foam is the most affordable. Velvet-covered trays and satin linings cost more. Multi-cavity inserts with complex shapes add die-cutting setup costs.
