How Character Standees Are Built
A character acrylic standee is made in four steps: your artwork is UV-printed onto a flat acrylic sheet at 1440 dpi, a white opaque layer is applied behind the artwork to block light bleed, the sheet is laser-cut along the character's exact outline, and the finished panel slots into a CNC-routed groove in an acrylic base. The base holds the panel upright for desk, shelf, or counter display.
The standard acrylic standee — also called an acrylic stand up display or acrylic figure stand — is the most-ordered product in the character merchandise category. Unlike PVC figures that require expensive injection molds, acrylic standees print directly from a digital file with zero tooling cost. Every standee in your order can feature different artwork at no additional setup fee.
The standee panel is cut from cast acrylic (PMMA) using a CO₂ laser. The laser follows your artwork's exact silhouette — hair spikes, weapon outlines, flowing capes — with 0.1mm precision. The panel surface is UV-printed using the same white-base-plus-CMYK process as our acrylic keychains: a white opaque layer blocks light bleed, then CMYK ink prints your full-color artwork on top. For double-sided standees, this process runs on both faces.
The base is a separate acrylic piece — typically 3–5mm thick — with a slot routed by CNC to match the panel's bottom edge. The panel slides into the slot and stands upright by friction fit. Base shapes range from simple rectangles to custom silhouettes matching the character's theme.

Shaker Standees
A shaker standee has a sealed cavity cut into the acrylic panel — typically in a window shape (circle, star, heart, or character-specific shape). The cavity is filled with loose glitter, microbeads, or miniature shapes, then sealed between a front and back acrylic layer with a spacer frame creating the depth.
Tilt the standee and the filling moves inside the window. The effect is interactive and eye-catching — a step beyond static printed standees for collector-grade merchandise.
Construction: Three layers bonded together — front panel (printed + die-cut window), acrylic spacer frame (2–3mm cavity), and back panel (printed or clear). Solvent bonding creates a watertight seal.
LED-Lit Standees
An LED base replaces the standard acrylic base. The base contains 2–4 small LEDs powered by coin-cell batteries or USB, positioned to edge-light the acrylic panel from below. The light travels through the clear acrylic and illuminates printed lines, creating a neon-like glow effect.
Multi-Layer Standees
Two to four acrylic panels mounted at staggered depths on a single base, creating a layered 3D effect. Each layer is separately printed and die-cut — a background scene, middle-ground elements, and a foreground character. The depth separation (5–10mm between layers) creates a parallax effect when viewed from different angles.

If your file doesn't include a cut path, send the artwork and our production team traces it at no extra charge. For shaker standees, supply the window area outline as a separate layer. PDF and SVG files are also accepted.
