Clear Acrylic Blocks — Solid, Cut-to-Size, Optically Clear

Solid optically-clear cast PMMA blocks cut to your size and thickness, polished edges — three uses, one block.

Clear acrylic blocks are solid, optically-clear cast PMMA blocks cut to your size and thickness with polished edges. Buyers order them for three jobs: as a print substrate that photo labs reverse-print onto, as retail display risers and pedestals, and as branded paperweights and desk gifts finished with a UV print, laser engraving, or a sandwich-laminated logo. Wetop Acrylic cuts them 10mm to 100mm thick, any footprint, square to full-radius edges, at 92% light transmission. MOQ 50 pieces. If you know which of the three you need, jump straight to it below.

Four Formats of Clear Acrylic Block

Clear acrylic blocks come in four formats that share the same optical-grade material but serve different jobs: the solid clear block (a load-bearing riser or pedestal), the hollow display cube (a lightweight large-format box), the paperweight / desk-gift block (a branded solid block for the desk), and the pedestal riser block (a tall statement base for a single hero product). All four are cut from clear cast PMMA and diamond-polished; they differ in construction, thickness, and intended use.

How to Choose Clear Block Thickness

Clear display block thickness is driven by three signals: the weight of the product the block carries, the viewing distance and visual proportion you want, and the cost-vs-presence trade-off. Thin blocks read light and disappear under the product; thick blocks read as substantial glass plinths but cost more material. Most B2B clear-block orders land between 20mm and 60mm, with museum and hero pieces going to 80–100mm.

Three Signals That Determine Thickness

Thickness Recommendations by Application

Application Recommended Thickness Why
Jewelry / small-item riser20–30mmClean solid base at close range without overwhelming a small item. Lowest material cost.
Cosmetics / product pedestal40–60mmSubstantial, premium feel. Stable under mid-weight products. Most-ordered B2B range.
Photography elevation propMixed 20/30/50mmSet of thicknesses lets the shooter vary height on set. Full-radius edges kill glare.
Product-launch / hero base60–80mmReads as a glass plinth at stage viewing distance. Premium positioning.
Museum / single-artifact mount80–100mm+The block is a design statement. Load-bearing mass and proportion for a focal display.

Thicknesses assume solid cast construction. Hollow display cubes follow different rules — the wall panel thickness, not the overall dimension, drives strength. Ask us if a hollow format fits your use.

Blocks over about 50mm are cut from thick cast tooling plate or laminated from bonded layers, and the polishing pass on a thick block is slower and more exacting — a bubble or a polish haze that would be invisible in a 20mm riser shows clearly through 80mm of clear acrylic. That's why we sample thick blocks before bulk and inspect every piece against the approved sample: on optical-clear material at museum scale, clarity is the whole product.

Where These Go

Retail & Jewelry Merchandising

Solid clear risers and pedestals make product appear to float at the point of purchase. Mixed-thickness sets stage a range of items at different heights. Pair with acrylic risers for a complete branded counter setup.

Product Photography & Studios

Clear blocks elevate products invisibly for seamless shots. Full-radius edges eliminate hard reflections; mixed thicknesses give the shooter height options on set. Ordered in repeat batches as props wear.

Product Launches & Showrooms

Thick hero pedestals stage a single flagship product as a glass plinth. Premium feel for launches, press events, and showroom displays. See our Acrylic Display Stands for full display options.

Museums & Desk Gifts

Thick clear mounts elevate single artifacts; solid clear blocks double as branded paperweights and corporate desk gifts, finished with a UV print, laser engraving, or a sandwich-laminated logo. For an engraved recognition plaque, see our acrylic plaques.

Why Acrylic for Clear Display Blocks?

Clear acrylic display blocks combine glass-like optical clarity, roughly half the weight of glass, shatter resistance, and CNC-cuttable custom shapes at a lower cost than crystal or glass alternatives. Optical-grade acrylic transmits about 92% of light — close enough to glass that the visual difference in a display setting is minimal — while surviving the knocks that crack a glass or crystal block on a counter or a photo table.

Factor Acrylic (PMMA) Glass Crystal
Light transmission~92% (optical clear)~90%~90% (higher sparkle)

Shatter riskNear zeroHigh — shatters on impactHigh — chips and cracks

Cost (custom, 50+ pcs)$$$$$$$$$

When other materials make sense: crystal wins for high-end awards where refractive sparkle is the whole point — see our Acrylic Plaques for an acrylic alternative. Glass suits frameless transparency where weight and shatter risk aren't concerns. For clear display and prop blocks handled daily and shipped internationally, acrylic outperforms both on weight, durability, custom shaping, branding versatility, and cost. To pick the right material variant, our clear vs frosted vs colored acrylic guide covers the full breakdown.

Who Orders Clear Acrylic Blocks?

Clear acrylic blocks are ordered by jewelry and retail merchandisers, product-launch and brand teams, photography studios, corporate gift buyers, and museum and exhibition teams. The common thread: every buyer needs a clean, glass-like solid base that stages a product or artifact without competing with it — at B2B volume, shipped internationally, and inspected for optical clarity.

Jewelry & Retail Merchandisers

Boutiques and visual-merchandising teams sourcing solid clear blocks as risers and pedestals that make product appear to float. Typically mixed-thickness sets, diamond-polished all six sides, reordered as store sets expand.

Product-Launch & Brand Teams

Marketing teams staging a hero product on a clean glass-like base for launches, showrooms, and press events. Thicker 40–60mm pedestals for a premium, substantial feel; square or beveled edges for a modern line.

Photography & Studio Buyers

Studios and e-commerce shooters using clear blocks as seamless elevation props under products. Full-radius edges to kill glare; mixed thicknesses so the shooter can vary height on set. Ordered in repeat batches.

Corporate Gift & Paperweight Buyers

Buyers commissioning solid clear blocks as branded paperweights and desk gifts — surface UV print, subsurface 3D laser-engraved logo, or a flat logo sandwich-laminated between clear layers. The substantial clear block communicates permanence and perceived value. Gift-boxed, 30mm+ thickness.

Museum & Exhibition Teams

Exhibition designers and museum shops sourcing thick 80–100mm clear blocks as single-artifact display mounts where the block itself is a design statement. Optical clarity and edge finish are inspected closely.

What Affects Clear Acrylic Block Pricing?

Custom clear acrylic block pricing depends on three factors: block size and thickness, edge profile, and order quantity. Diamond polishing on all faces is included on every block. We don't publish fixed prices — every block is custom — but as an indicative guide, solid clear display risers start around US$4–9 per unit FOB Shenzhen at volume, with thicker museum-grade and branded paperweight blocks running higher. These are non-binding estimates; here's what moves the number.

Block Size & Thickness

Thickness is the biggest lever — an 80mm block uses roughly 4× the material of a 20mm block of the same footprint.

Edge Profile

Square edges are baseline. Beveled, rounded, and full-radius bullnose edges add polishing time and a small per-unit cost.

Order Quantity

Unit cost drops significantly above 200 pieces, and again at 500+. High-volume riser and prop programs price lowest per unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a clear acrylic block?

A clear acrylic block is a solid, six-sided piece of optical-grade cast PMMA, diamond-polished on every face for glass-like transparency. Unlike a logo block or photo block, a clear display block carries no printing, engraving, or embedded graphic — the material itself is the product. It transmits about 92% of visible light, so anything placed on top appears to float on glass. Clear blocks are ordered as jewelry risers, cosmetics pedestals, product-launch bases, photography props, and museum display mounts. We cut them from 10mm to 100mm thick in any footprint, with square, beveled, rounded, or full-radius edges.

What's the MOQ for custom clear acrylic blocks?

Our MOQ is 50 pieces per size. The floor is set by cutting setup and edge-polishing programming — diamond-polishing all six faces to optical clarity carries fixed setup that has to amortize across the run. Below 50, the per-piece cost turns hostile for most B2B buyers. Above 200 the unit cost drops noticeably; high-volume riser and prop programs (500–3,000 pieces) drop again. If you're ordering a mixed-thickness set — say 30mm, 50mm, and 80mm risers for one merchandising rollout — we can split a 50-piece minimum across sizes within one production batch. Ask at quote stage.

How long is production lead time for clear acrylic blocks?

Sample turnaround is 3–5 days after you confirm dimensions and edge profile. Bulk production runs 15–20 days for orders under 500 pieces; larger riser and prop programs (1,000+) typically run 20–28 days. Full-radius and rounded edges add 2–3 days over square edges because the polishing pass is slower. We schedule production on the date you approve the physical sample, not the date you place the deposit — that gap is where most overseas suppliers slip their dates. For a store-set or trade-show deadline, tell us the in-hand date at RFQ and we'll quote air-first batch options against your sea-freight balance.

Are clear acrylic blocks solid or hollow?

Both are available, and they serve different jobs. A solid clear block is cut from a single piece of cast acrylic — no seams, no interior cavity — and is the standard for risers, pedestals, and props that need weight and load-bearing strength. A hollow display cube is bonded from clear acrylic sheet into a box form, far lighter, and used when the block is a container or a large display volume where solid material would be too heavy and too expensive. If you need a block a product sits on, order solid. If you need a cube a product sits inside or a lightweight large-format display, order hollow. Tell us the use at RFQ and we'll recommend which.

How thick should a clear display block be?

Thickness is driven by the product weight it carries and the visual proportion you want. Jewelry and small-cosmetics risers usually land at 20–30mm — enough presence to read as a solid glass base without overwhelming a small item. Retail and product-launch pedestals run 40–60mm for a substantial, premium feel. Museum and single-hero display mounts go to 80–100mm where the block itself is a design statement. For photography props, buyers often order a mixed set (20/30/50mm) so the shooter can vary elevation on set. Send us the item weight and footprint and we'll recommend the thickness.

Can I get a clear acrylic block as a branded paperweight or desk gift?

Yes. A solid clear block makes a substantial, unbreakable paperweight or corporate desk gift. Brand it with a surface UV print, silk-screen, a subsurface 3D laser-engraved logo, or a flat printed logo sandwich-laminated between two clear layers. Common desk-gift sizes run 80×80×25mm up to 100×100×40mm with diamond-polished faces and a felt-pad base option. Minimum practical thickness for a laminated logo is 30mm. Send us your artwork, size, and quantity and we sample before the run.

What edge finishes are available on clear blocks?

Four options: square (sharp geometric look, most affordable), beveled (45° chamfer that catches the light at the edge), rounded (smooth radius, safe to handle), and full-radius bullnose (semicircular, the most elegant and the best choice for glare-free photography). All edges are diamond-polished to optical clarity. Rounded and bullnose add 2–3 days to sample production and a small per-unit cost. Photography-prop buyers usually specify full-radius to eliminate hard edge reflections; retail-riser buyers often choose square or beveled for a crisp modern line.

Do clear acrylic blocks scratch easily, and do they ship protected?

Cast acrylic is softer than glass, so polished faces can scuff if mishandled — that's why every block ships with protective film applied to all polished surfaces for international freight. Remove the film on receipt. The film is transit protection only, not a long-term display coating. For high-touch retail environments, we can recommend a harder surface grade or a scratch-resistant option at RFQ. For photography and museum use, buyers typically keep spare film on hand to re-cover blocks between shoots or rotations.

How much do custom clear acrylic blocks cost?

Three factors drive clear-block pricing: block size and thickness (more acrylic means higher material cost — a 100×100×80mm museum block uses many times the material of a 50×50×20mm riser), edge profile (square is baseline; full-radius bullnose costs more to polish), and order quantity (unit cost drops significantly above 200 pieces, and again at 500+). As an indicative range, a solid clear display riser starts around US$4–9 per unit FOB Shenzhen at volume; thicker museum-grade blocks and branded paperweights run higher. These are non-binding estimates — send us your dimensions, edge profile, and quantity and we quote within 24 hours.

Why choose acrylic over crystal or glass for display blocks?

For display and prop use, acrylic beats crystal and glass on the factors that matter to a working buyer: it's roughly half the weight of glass, it's shatter-resistant (a crystal or glass block that gets knocked off a counter or a photo table cracks — acrylic doesn't), it can be CNC-cut to any custom profile crystal and glass can't, and it costs meaningfully less per piece at B2B volumes. Optical-grade clear acrylic transmits about 92% of light, close to glass, so the visual difference in a display setting is minimal. Crystal wins only when refractive sparkle is the whole point — typically high-end awards, not display bases.
