You bring the artwork and the requirements. We manufacture the tiles and coordinate the selected accessories. You can request a quote while your artwork is still in progress; custom sampling starts after the files and proof are approved.

The factory

How we manufacture your American mahjong set

  1. Operator unloading freshly CNC-cut ivory acrylic mahjong tile blanks from the cutting bed in the Wetop factory

    Cut the blanks

Cast acrylic sheet is CNC-cut into tile blanks, one sheet color per layer.

  2. Laser engraver cutting suit characters into a jig of acrylic mahjong tiles while an operator checks the first row

    Engrave the faces

For engraved faces, the artwork is recessed into the tile before color is added. Surface UV printing follows a different route.

  3. Illustration of an operator applying color to an engraved mahjong tile

    Fill with color

UV-printed color, or paint by hand, fills the recess so the color sits in the tile.

  4. Worker polishing the chamfered edges of acrylic mahjong tiles on a buffing wheel

    Polish and chamfer

Edges are chamfered and faces diamond-polished to the glass-like finish.

  5. Inspector comparing a finished custom mahjong tile with the approved sample tile under a bench lamp

    Check against your sample

100% inspection against the approved sample set before packing.

Process illustrations; the exact route depends on your selected face process. Tiles are cut, engraved, filled and polished in-house on 8 laser cutters, 4 CNC machines, a UV print line and a diamond polishing line; accessories and packaging come from specialized partners under our inspection. Before you configure

Six questions buyers ask first

Can I start with 50 sets?

Yes. Fully custom mahjong tiles start at 50 complete sets per tile design, with standard shrink-wrap export packaging and stock dice, with pricing confirmed for your complete specification. Two designs are two 50-set runs — designs do not share a minimum. A single finished set is a retail purchase, not a custom production run.

How much does a custom set cost?

Per 160-tile set, FOB Shenzhen, reference estimates for 50 to 300 sets for the listed configurations: UV print + surface coating USD 53 / USD 55 / USD 58 / USD 60 for 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 layers; engraving + UV color fill or engraving + paint fill USD 65 / USD 67 / USD 70 / USD 73. Confirm your tile count and exact specification on the quote; unlisted variants need a quote. Standard shrink-wrap export packaging and stock dice are included; the full book is on the pricing page.

Can I get a sample first?

Yes — one full custom sample set at USD 500 per set, courier included. The fee is paid separately and is never credited to production. We do not sell loose tiles, material packs or lookbooks; the sample set is the physical standard the production run is checked against.

Are the tiles engraved or printed?

Your choice of three face processes. UV print + surface coating prints the faces in full color and seals them under a clear coat, with no recess. Engraving + UV color fill and engraving + paint fill both cut the character 0.3 mm into the acrylic first, then fill the recess, so the color sits in the tile, not on it. The two engraved processes are priced the same; see the tiles page for the cross-section.

Will you sign an NDA?

We can sign a reasonable NDA after reviewing and agreeing its terms. Your artwork and project files are used only to quote, sample and manufacture your order, never published or reused for another customer. The agreement should protect your confidential project information without treating common manufacturing methods as your exclusive property. Please send the proposed agreement for review before sharing confidential files.

Are you the factory?

Yes. Wetop Acrylic runs a 5,000 m² ISO 9001-certified manufacturing facility in Dongguan with 65+ workers, 8 laser cutters, 4 CNC machines, UV printing and a diamond polishing line. Tiles are cut, engraved, filled and polished in-house; accessories and packaging draw on specialized partners under our inspection.
