Custom mahjong set FAQ: the answers buyers need before quoting

50 complete sets per mahjong tile design, shipped in standard shrink-wrap export packaging with stock dice, at the same per-set price from 50 to 300 sets. Above 300 sets, or for a tile body outside the three standard sizes, the quote is calculated per project. Each accessory has its own minimum per design: racks and pushers from 50 four-player sets; printed mats and acrylic cases from 50 pcs; shuffler cards from 200 sets; rule cards from 500 sets of four cards; bags from 500 pcs; printed boxes from 1,000 pcs.

Per set, FOB Shenzhen, flat from 50 to 300 sets for the listed configurations: UV print + surface coating USD 53 / 55 / 58 / 60 for 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 layers; engraving + UV color fill or engraving + paint fill USD 65 / 67 / 70 / 73. Standard shrink-wrap export packaging and stock dice are included. The quote confirms the tile count and body; unlisted variants require a quote. Accessories, printed packaging and freight are separate lines; the full book with a worked example is on the pricing page.

The tile price is published and flat from 50 to 300 sets, so a ladder would only repeat the pricing page; above 300 sets the quote is calculated per project. Give the one quantity you plan to run, or a narrow range, and the quote is built around that run — it sets your accessory tiers, whether printed packaging is open, and the freight leg.

Per design. Each tile design is its own production run from 50 complete sets, quoted on its own line. Two colorways at 50 sets each is a valid order; one design at 100 sets is a different quote. Accessories made to your artwork are counted per design the same way.

FOB Shenzhen is the default term, and the quote adds an estimated freight line for your destination on request — sea or air, by packed weight, from your postcode. Ask for DDP and the line carries freight, duty and brokerage to your door as an estimate; the final figure needs the full address. US customs classification for game sets typically falls under HTS heading 9504 — confirm the code with your broker. We prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin.

There is no mold. Tiles are cut from cast acrylic sheet, engraved, printed and polished, so nothing is tooled for your run. Any project-specific setup is itemized on the quote rather than hidden in the unit price; the one-off setup behind a single custom set is what the paid sample covers.

30% deposit before production and the 70% balance before shipment, by bank transfer. The sample invoice is paid in full before the sample is cut and is never credited against either payment.

Reference your previous order and approved sample when requesting a reorder. We check whether the artwork, material, colors and specification are unchanged before confirming if another proof or sample is needed. The current price book and your actual quantity determine the quote; a lower unit price is not automatic.

One tile sample tier: one complete custom set built to your approved proof, USD 500 including courier, about 15–17 days from paid invoice to courier pickup once outlined artwork and colors are approved. Accessory samples carry their own fees — racks and pushers USD 200 per set of 4, mat USD 50, any box or bag USD 200 per design — and are made with the tile sample when they are briefed. Every sample fee includes courier, is paid separately and is never credited to production. The set you approve becomes the acceptance standard for the run.

No, never. Sample fees are paid separately and are not credited to or deducted from a production order. The fee covers part of the one-off material, engraving and printing setup, finishing and inspection behind a single custom set.

No. There are no stock sets, no sample packs and no reference assortments — every sample is made to the buyer's own files, and finished tiles from another run carry another buyer's artwork, which is never shared. The photos on these pages are our own baseline designs. The paid full-set sample is the way to hold your set before committing.

No. The only tile sample is the complete set, because a handful of tiles cannot prove the layer stack, the color across a whole manifest, the rack fit or the packing. Blank tiles follow the same rule: sold only as complete sets at the 50-set minimum, never as loose blanks.

Before courier pickup you receive photos of the finished tiles and a short video of the set, then the tracking number. The same routine applies to production: a QC photo set reaches you before the cargo leaves the warehouse.

Three reference tile bodies — 30 × 23 × 13 mm (1.18 × 0.91 × 0.51 in), 32 × 23 × 13 mm (1.26 × 0.91 × 0.51 in) and 36 × 25 × 15 mm (1.42 × 0.98 × 0.59 in, what US retail calls large) — and any custom size, quoted per project: travel tiles down to 20 mm, extra-large up to 40 mm. A physical reference tile can be matched when measurements alone are not enough. Racks and cases are drawn to the body you choose.

One to four layers on the published matrix: a single body, two-tone, three-layer and four-layer. Each layer is a real cast sheet, so thicknesses follow stock sheet sizes — 3, 5 and 6 mm are the usual ones — and the stack has to add up to the tile height; thin cores and builds outside the published matrix need a material and construction check. The drawing confirms feasible layer thicknesses and total tile thickness.

Three face processes, priced as two matrices. Engraving + UV color fill cuts the artwork 0.3 mm into the face and UV-prints the color into the recess. Engraving + paint fill uses the same recess, filled by hand with paint — the traditional look. Both put the color in a recess below the face surface; check the finish on your physical sample, at USD 65–73 per set by layer count. UV print + surface coating prints the color on the face and seals it under a clear coat, no recess, at USD 53–60 — the choice for photographic artwork and price.

Engraving + paint fill is hand-filled paint in the engraved recess, priced the same as engraving + UV fill. What we do not offer is free-hand painted artwork or hybrid processes on one tile: the face is either engraved and filled or UV-printed, and the sample shows you either finish before production.

No. Artwork goes on the flat front face and the flat back face only. The edges are chamfered and polished acrylic, and a colored edge comes from the layer construction — a colored core or back sheet — not from print.

No. Every tile is cast acrylic (PMMA) — the material our engraving, fill and color-register processes are tuned for. Extruded acrylic, melamine, urea, resin, wood and bone are not used, and wooden racks are not offered either. Effect sheets — pearl, marble-look, fluorescent — are still cast acrylic and carry no surcharge; your final price also depends on the complete set specification.

The sample takes about 15–17 days from paid invoice to courier pickup. Production estimates are about 20 days for 50 or 100 sets, 25 days for 150 or 200 sets, and 30 days for 300–1,000 sets. Other quantities and the complete delivery schedule are confirmed per project. Transit is quoted with your destination — by air in days, by sea in weeks — so the calendar on the quote is the one to plan from; we do not promise a fixed delivery date on the site. Changes to size, layers, artwork or accessories need review and may require another sample or fit check. Quantity changes can affect pricing, material allocation, packing and freight.

Two routes, one standard. Pick the closest of the 199 in-stock sheet codes on the colors page, with no extra lead time; or have a Pantone-matched sheet made to order — about 15 days for the sheet plus about 10 extra days on the sample, at the same price. On either route you approve the color on the physical sample; a 100% exact match is never promised, because the approved sample, not a Pantone number, is the production standard.

Yes — one sheet palette for everything cut from sheet: each tile layer, the racks and pushers, the case. Availability per thickness is confirmed at quote, and racks can be cut from the same sheet lot as a tile layer so one program stays in one color. Print color on the mat, cards and bag is a separate matter, judged on the print proof.

Yes, at no surcharge: pearl, marble, fluorescent and every other stock sheet family are priced the same as solid colors — your final price also depends on the complete set specification. Pearlescent and tortoise-shell layered backs are the usual request; availability of an effect sheet in your thickness is confirmed against the brief and approved on the physical sample, because effect sheets vary lot to lot more than plain colors. Metallic and wood-grain looks are not sheet colors — whether your file reproduces as UV-printed artwork on the back is confirmed at proof.

Yes. The colors page carries the in-stock sheet board — 199 stock-board codes with photographed swatches, plus separately identified supplier references whose availability and thickness need confirmation. Record the supplier and code on your brief. Screen appearance is a reference; approve the physical sample as the color standard. The Pantone reference card PDF is a vocabulary for targets that are not on the board.

Adobe Illustrator .ai or vector PDF with every font outlined, one named artboard per unique face plus the common back, exact color names, and any raster element embedded at full resolution. No template is provided: your designer sets up artboards from the published tile dimensions. The number of artboards follows your unique face inventory; repeated tiles reuse the same artwork. There is no universal artboard count.

No. We supply no templates and no design, tracing, redraw or vectorization service. A raster file, an AI-generated image or a PDF with live fonts goes back to your designer with the reason; production starts from outlined vector files that pass the file check. Standard classic engraved faces need no artwork at all.

There are no fixed numbers, because they depend on the design and the tile size. Every file is checked against engraving or printing on your exact tile body, and any line, gap or margin that will not cut or print cleanly is marked on the digital proof with the fix. If your artwork carries hairline detail, say so on the brief and it is called out before you finalize files.

Yes — one proof per unique face and one for the common back, laid on the tile drawing at your body size, after your files pass the checks. You approve the proof, then the paid sample is cut to it. The approved physical sample, not the proof, is the standard the run is inspected against.

Every order is a complete mahjong set made to the agreed specification. Supply one artboard per unique face and the back, with quantities for repeated faces. Standard classic face artwork is available if you have no custom files. We confirm the artwork, construction and finish together before sampling.

Standard shrink-wrap export packaging and stock dice are included in the tile price. Retail boxes, cases and bags are separate items with their own minimums. The packing specification is confirmed for your order; no particular insert material or transit-test report is automatically included.

Printed packaging starts at 1,000 pcs per design — a printed color box about USD 0.50, a magnetic rigid gift box about USD 1.35 — and there is no paid exception below it; the order ships in standard export packaging. Rule cards are an accessory line from 500 sets, shuffler cards from 200, bags from 500 pcs, each with a published price.

Dice are stock only, included with the tile sets and never customized. Acrylic cases are fabricated from 50 sets per design and quoted per spec. Wind indicator, NMJL card holder, scoring chips and travel case are available on request only, with no published price — the accessories page lists the market reference sizes so you can write the spec into the brief. Bags are sourced with the set from 500 pcs at about USD 2.23.

They can be coordinated on one request. Confirm which accessories are included in the sample, how colors are approved across different materials, and the final packing plan. A matching color name does not guarantee identical appearance on acrylic, fabric and print. Each accessory has its own minimum; the 50-set tile minimum does not cover every item.

We can sign a reasonable NDA after reviewing and agreeing its terms. Your artwork and project files are used only to quote, sample and manufacture your order, never published or reused for another customer. The agreement should protect your confidential project information without treating common manufacturing methods as your exclusive property. We do not name customers or show their sets. What appears on this site is our own baseline designs; the proof row on the program hub is written as quantity band, country and spec type only. That is the same rule that protects your artwork once you order.

Email first — a complete brief gets a quote within 24 hours and answers most questions in one reply. Factory visits are by appointment only; write with your dates once a sample or order is in progress and we confirm a time. Sample photos and a short video are provided before courier pickup; production QC photos are provided before shipment. Request any additional factory or process footage separately.

No. We ship production runs to you, your warehouse or your freight forwarder. Single-set fulfillment to end customers, US warehousing and returns handling are not offered.

ISO 9001 factory certification, SGS test reports and RoHS documentation are the three we can supply. Other certificates or test programs are not on file; if your market needs one, name it on the brief and we tell you whether it can be arranged on your run at your cost, before you order.

You have a 7-day landed inspection window to check the shipment against the approved sample. Transit damage or units that fail the approved spec are reviewed with photo evidence and remade case by case. Custom production is not sold with a warranty period; 100% pre-shipment inspection against the approved sample and the QC photo set are the commitments.

NDA terms are reviewed before agreement. No design, redraw or vectorization service. No printed box under 1,000 pcs per design. No stock sets, loose tiles, sample packs or single sets.
