Wetop Acrylic manufactures custom American Mahjong sets to NMJL standard with MOQ 50 sets and approximately 20 business day production lead time. Sets can be ordered in 152 (tournament-legal), 160 (retail recommended, with spare tiles), or 166 (Amazon retail standard) tile configurations. All tile faces, tile backs, racks, pushers, cases, and packaging can be customized with original artwork or brand designs. Fully custom tiles — your artwork, engraving, and colorways — start at 50 sets with standard packaging and stock accessories; custom packaging and accessory customization start at 250 sets. Standard tile sizes are 30 × 23 × 13 mm, 32 × 23 × 13 mm, and 36 × 25 × 15 mm cast acrylic PMMA, with custom sizes on request.

Before you inquire

What we need to quote you — the 9-point checklist

Every custom mahjong quote needs the same nine decisions. Send them in your first email — or just say "standard" for any item and we apply the default — and you get an itemized quote within 24 hours instead of a week of back-and-forth.

Not sure yet? The defaults below are what most first-time brands choose.

1 · Quantity — in sets, not tile pieces
One set = all tiles for one game. "500 pcs" reads as 500 individual tiles, so write "50 sets". Default: most first orders are 50–100 sets.
2 · Tile count — 152, 160, or 166
152 is NMJL-exact; 160 adds spare Jokers and blanks; 166 matches the Amazon retail standard. Default: 160 for retail brands.
3 · Tile size
Standard sizes are 30×23×13 mm (compact), 32×23×13 mm (mid), and 36×25×15 mm (full-size) — custom sizes on request. Matching an existing set? Send its L×W×H in mm (or mail us one tile). Default: say "standard" and we spec the proven mid-size.
4 · Layers & colors
Two-tone (colored back, light face) comes naturally from layered construction. Name each layer's color — stock palette is free; a custom-matched Pantone adds a $200–300 one-time setup per color, available from the 50-set floor. Tortoise and pearlescent backs available (pearlescent is a specialty grade — we confirm on a physical sample first).
5 · Artwork status
Final files: vector AI or PDF, fonts outlined, colors as Pantone Coated. No final artwork yet? Say so — send reference photos plus quantities and we quote a reference band the same day, then firm it up when your files land. Tile spec worksheet (PDF).
6 · Engraving method — one default, stated plainly
We engrave the pattern into the tile, then UV print color into the recess — the color sits inside the engraving, so shuffling doesn't wear it off. We do not offer hand paint-fill (can't hold OEM consistency); the engrave-plus-fill result reads very close to it.
7 · Accessories
Racks & pushers (5 mm standard or 6 mm heavy — ~$12.70–14.30 per 4-piece set), dice (2 standard included; custom ~$0.30 each), mat, carrying bag, tile case. Default: tiles + 4 racks/pushers is the most common first config.
8 · Packaging
Standard protective packing is included. Custom packaging — gift-box formats, branded unit packs — starts at 250 sets and is quoted per spec; printed rigid boxes start around 500 sets. Default: standard packing on a first order, upgrade at reorder.
9 · Destination ZIP + timeline
DDP door-delivery pricing needs your ZIP code and locks once the configuration and weight are set. Tell us your launch date — production runs 15–25 days, sea freight 25–35 days, air is quoted on request.

What you get back: an itemized quote within 24 hours — most custom sets land $40–60 per set at the 50–250 set tier, racks and pushers itemized separately. Zero tooling fees: tiles are CNC-cut and engraved, not molded. Want to verify quality first? A single engraved sample tile runs $40–80 (5–7 days); a full custom sample set runs $300–500 including air freight (7–10 days). Sample fees aren't credited to production — the one-off labor far exceeds the fee. Payment: 40% deposit, balance before shipment. Working under NDA is standard for us — our one-way template, or send yours.

One rule before we start

American Mahjong (NMJL standard) has a fixed tile composition — the game can't be played without the right tiles. What you customize is the artwork and presentation, not the tile structure.

Fixed: Tile count · tile types · game rules
Yours to design: Tile face artwork · colors · case · racks · packaging

Step 1

Choose your tile count

American Mahjong requires more tiles than Chinese or Japanese sets. Always confirm your count before ordering — a 144-tile Chinese set cannot be used to play American rules.

152
NMJL Standard
108 suit tiles (Craks, Dots, Bams)
16 wind tiles (N, E, S, W)
12 dragon tiles (Red, Green, White)
8 flower tiles
8 joker tiles (wildcard)

Tournament-legal. Clubs and competitive buyers who specify NMJL-exact.

166
152 + 14 spare tiles
All 152 playable tiles
+2 spare Joker tiles
+8 extra Flower tiles
+4 blank replacement tiles

Matches the most common Amazon retail format. Choose this if you want shelf presence matching established brands.

What are blank tiles? Blank tiles in 160/166 sets are plain, unprinted spares for replacements only — not wildcards. If a tile is lost or damaged, an end user can write or sticker the correct face on a blank. Jokers are the only wildcards in American Mahjong.

Step 2

Design your set

Three surfaces to make the set yours — with one configuration rule up front: fully custom tiles — your artwork, engraving, and colorways — start at 50 sets with standard packaging and stock accessories; custom packaging and accessory customization start at 250 sets. Most orders customize all three surfaces; you can start with tiles-only if packaging comes later.

Step 3

How ordering works

Five steps from first email to finished sets at your door. Most orders receive a quote within 24 hours.

1
Tell us what you need

Use the form below or email inquiry@wetopacrylic.com with your intended use (retail / gift / club), tile count (152 / 160 / 166), quantity, and design direction.

2
Send reference material

Share artwork files, inspiration images, a competitor set you like, or your brand style guide. No design team? A photo or mood board is enough — we handle the rest.

3
Approve your digital proof

We produce a 2D mockup of all tile faces before cutting any acrylic. Nothing enters production without your sign-off.

4
Sample order (recommended)

First-time buyers or new designs: a small sample run lets you verify color accuracy, tile weight, and packaging fit before committing to full quantity.

5
Full production & ship

~20 business days (varies by complexity). Ships FOB Shenzhen — DDP available. You receive tracking and QC photos before the cargo leaves the warehouse.

Nothing cuts without your approval.

Every project starts with a digital proof. You review every tile face and approve before we produce a single piece.

Step 4

Preparing your artwork

To produce your tiles, we need print-ready files. You don't need to redesign all 152 tiles individually — only the unique faces.

File & color specifications

File Format
Adobe Illustrator (.AI) or PDF — preferred
Also accepted: PNG or JPG at 300 DPI minimum. SVG for flat designs.
Color Mode
CMYK — preferred
RGB accepted — we convert before production. Note: color shift possible. A pre-production proof call is recommended for color-critical work.
No Design Team?
Send us a reference — we'll do the rest
A competitor set, mood board, color palette, or brand style guide is enough. Ask about design fees and revision rounds.

How many files do you need?

You only design each unique face once — identical tiles share the same file.

Common questions

152, 160, or 166 — which should I order for retail?
Order 160. The 2 spare Jokers and 6 blank replacement tiles add minimal cost per set but eliminate returns from a single damaged tile. The 166 format is also fine if you want to match the Amazon retail standard. Reserve 152-tile orders for tournament or club buyers who specify NMJL-exact.
Can I order tiles only — without the case or racks?
Yes. Tiles-only orders are available at the same MOQ. Specify "tiles only" in your inquiry. Some buyers source cases locally or use existing branded packaging — that's fine.
Why can't I use a 144-tile set for American Mahjong?
The 8 missing tiles are all Jokers — a tile type that does not exist in Chinese Mahjong. Jokers are wildcards required for American Mahjong gameplay. A 144-tile Chinese set simply doesn't have them, so you cannot play American rules with it.
Can you match a competitor set's tile size and weight?
Yes. Send us a physical sample or measurements (L × W × H in mm, weight in grams) and we'll match to spec. We can also increase tile thickness for a "heavier" premium feel compared to mass-market sets.
Can I get a clear acrylic display case for shelf display?
Yes — this is a popular retail add-on. A clear acrylic display case (UV-printed base, lift-off lid or clamshell) lets buyers display the set on a shelf instead of a bag. Specify tile footprint and opening style when you inquire.
I'm reselling to retail stores. Can you add branded outer packaging?
Yes. We produce branded outer cartons with your SKU, barcode, and product description. Individual set packaging — insert card, tissue wrap, ribbon — is also available for premium gift positioning.
Are your tiles compliant with NMJL tournament rules?
Our sets meet the physical composition requirements: 152 tiles with the correct suit, honor, and Joker counts. NMJL official tournament certification is a process managed by the NMJL itself — manufacturers don't receive direct "NMJL-certified" status, but our sets are fully compliant with the standard for club and casual play.
How do I pay safely from overseas?
We accept T/T (bank transfer), PayPal, and Western Union. Standard terms: 40% deposit before production, balance before shipment. Every transaction comes with a formal invoice. Established clients can request flexible payment terms.
Can you hand-paint the color fill, like vintage sets?
No — we engrave the pattern and UV print color into the recess instead. The color sits inside the engraving, so shuffling doesn't wear it off, and all 152 tiles come out identical — which hand paint-fill can't guarantee at production volume. The finished look reads very close to hand-painted.
Is there a fee for custom colors?
Choosing from our stock color palette is free. A custom-matched color (your Pantone) adds a $200–300 one-time setup fee per color, per order, available from the 50-set floor — the fee covers the material batch match and register calibration. There are no tooling or mold fees on any order: tiles are CNC-cut and engraved, not molded.
